Kindle Sync
Import highlights from your Kindle device
Kindle Sync
Import all your Kindle highlights directly into Obsidian by syncing your "My Clippings.txt" file.
How It Works
When you highlight text on your Kindle, it saves to a file called "My Clippings.txt" on the device. Naidis parses this file and extracts all your highlights, organized by book.
Usage
- Connect your Kindle to your computer via USB
- Navigate to
Kindle/documents/My Clippings.txt - Open Command Palette → "Kindle: Sync Highlights"
- Select your
My Clippings.txtfile - Highlights are imported and ready for review
What Gets Imported
For each highlight, Naidis extracts:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Book Title | Full title of the book |
| Author | Author name (if available) |
| Highlight Text | The actual highlighted passage |
| Notes | Any notes you added to the highlight |
| Location | Kindle location number |
| Page | Page number (if available) |
| Date | When you created the highlight |
Organizing Highlights
After import, highlights are:
- Grouped by book - All highlights from the same book together
- Registered for Spaced Repetition - Automatically added to your daily review queue
- Searchable - Full-text search across all highlights
Integration with Spaced Repetition
Imported Kindle highlights automatically integrate with the Spaced Repetition system:
- Highlights appear in Daily Review
- You can Keep, Discard, or create Mastery Cards
- Review scheduling follows your chosen algorithm (SM-2 or Half-life)
